Renewed threat to spring carnival
VICTORIAN racing authorities have issued an urgent request for 12,000 doses of equine influenza vaccine, as the crisis cripples Queensland's racing industry and threatens Victoria's $500 million spring carnival.
As an outbreak of horse flu in Brisbane forced cancellation of racing there until February next year, two of Victoria's leading horse trainers yesterday also demanded that the Victorian and federal governments commence widespread vaccinations across the state.
