CHARITY CAMPDRAFT IN GREEN ZONE

Why it is that racing can be held at Wagga, yet The Rock campdraft is not allowed to proceed. This event is an annual fundraiser for the local community of The Rock and has managed to be held each year even in the worst of drought conditions. This event has raised tens of thousands of dollars to fund the building of and aged care facility in this small rural town, and without it funding for local facilities will fall short. Surely it could be run even if only for residents of the green zone which is quite extensive.

The reason you can not have your campdraft is because it is not a race horse meeting which has betting and can give a return to government. The fact that you are doing this for your community has no meaning to the horse racing industry or government. I would suggest that you ask them both to provide money to cover the amount that you would have made by running your event. While you wait for your answers I will go outside and look at the pigs flying over.
In all seriousness I can understand how you feel these people have no idea what the small event run to support our communities mean to these towns all over Australia. I hope some way can be found to make up the shortfall.

all communties have lost a lot from this, one of the local rodeo's has been canncelled while the other is putting on other entertainment. think of all those groups that help out at the shows, etc doing bbq's over in the horse section, people on the gate, and so much get s donated to them. it's not just us horse people who have lost out the charties and communty groups have as well.
it's a pain in the butt we can't do anything, with the drought as well. lets hope for a good result and get some more rain!!!!!
