They Just Get Worse

I just contacted the QLD DPI to find out about our permit application to move a horse for mustering. We made the application 2 days ago and have not even been told they have received it. We are in are very isolated area and only need to move the horse across a no thru road between two properties belonging to the same person. Absolutely no threat of spreading EI, we know of no cases in our shire which is very big and we are on the far northern boundary.... people a short distance away can do the same thing without any drama. I learned nothing from this call about our permit and we just have to wait.

But I made a comment to the operator that if it was a racehorse things would be happening.....WELL she told me that Queensland Racing is handling permits for racehorses.......So I imagine that it is no problem to take a racehorse any where you like!!!!!!!!!!

Christine. You made a comment that if it was racehorse things your permit would be happening. We live on the NSW / QLD border and we train racehorses. Let me tell you that we have not be able to get a permit either. NO racehorse trainers have been given permits, anywhere trust me. We recently had a meeting with the NSW Racing steward and a guy from the DPI. They understand our frustation that we have not been able to move, but announced that if we allpy now, we will be granted one. Now that they have establised the zones we are amber, at least now we can get our horses back into work. We can NOT take our horses anywhere we like. We must state on our permit our route to the track, truck rego number and how many horses etc. Yes, you might see race meetings being conducted around the place, but these are only in house meetings, which mean that only horses stabled on course or 500 walking distance (permit required)can attend. Yes the city slickers can keep their horses racing, but remember all the racing people in the country are just as stuck as you are with nowhere to go!
