Queensland Pleasure & Performance Horse Website

Does anyone know what is going on with the QPPHI website since the one that was built was taken "off the air"? I’ve heard they are now building some $500,000 website with attached database????

My question is - what's wrong with the AHIC website & database? They have been facilitating the flow of information from the beginning so why can't the DPI work in conjunction with them instead of building yet another database that is apparently costing an absolute fortune.
Or alternatively work in conjunction with the Qld Horse Council? Both of these bodies already have websites in place.

Or better yet, what was wrong with the website that was created specifically for the industry by someone in the industry? Why has that been removed???

Wouldn't the $500,000 be better used to assist with vaccinations rather than lining some IT experts pocket???

It seems this QPPHI group is on a self apointed power trip they are making statements and decisons on our behalf with out ever having asked us our thoughts let alone holding a public meeting for the people who they claim to represent to put there thoughts and ideas forward and electing/nominating people who will truely represent the performance horse industry
Am I the only one with these concerns or am I out of steep with the rest of the performance horse people

It is beginning to look that anything connected with government has a "mandate" to waste the maximum amount possible.

the wages of that AQIS woman heading the department look a little obscene compared to how little she seemed to know under oath.

do hope its just a rumour not fact.

No you are not the only one, I have tried to deal with a couple of these self appionted people and they are a law unto themselves.
I also heard that the web site contract was awarded to close friend of some connected to them or DPI. I also heard that one of them may also be applying for a quarintine property. I think there are to many conflicts of interest here.

I think the QPPHI have probably done some good work on behalf of those they are supposed to represent BUT what's the use of it all if the wider horse community has no way to view the results and processes that led to decisions.

I attended a meeting over a month ago where the committee gave an undertaking to produce a web site to keep people informed. It was very clearly stated by the Chairperson, Peter Toft, that he didn't want it "attached" to any other organisation's web site. This makes sense. I know that they had expressions of interest to build the site, DPI was going to fund it. So far nothing???
The super portal is all about gathering information, as far as I can see from the very, very little information we have had so far about it. It is being built by the DPI, not QPPHI, so why would it be an alternative to an independant QPPHI web site?

The question regarding progress on the QPPHI web site has been asked by myself and many others but so far the committee has been mute.

In the associations that I belong to the general business and minutes of all meetings are made available to all members, why is it not so with this group?

I hate to say this, as I had high hopes for the group, but it appears unless you in an elite group that are "in the loop" you can forget any public information from the QPPHI committee that was elected to represent you.

This QPPHI group needs to be accountable to the people they claim to represent. There seems to be a lot of closed door discussions and decisions going on with we will tell you whats is good for you, we have allready have this from the Qld DPI let alone a self appointed group that lays claim to be representaive of the Performance horse industry.
So come on Mr Toft and the rest of the QPPHI run a democratic organisation and listen to the people you claim to represent.
