WERRIBEE – ARE THEY FOR REAL?

I just can’t believe that latest bloody decision this stupid Victorian Government has made.

What in the hell do they think they are doing? Didn’t EI spread from a quarantine place in the first place? And now they want to let interstate horses into Victoria and use OUR equestrian facilities to house interstate horses so they can continue with their precious racing. Selfish is all that comes to mind…..

What about us other non racing equine enthusiasts, we have all done our part and sat back patiently waiting for it to get under control before we can get back into our much loved sport / hobby and life. Our lives too have been drastically upset by this and yet we are still the ones that are continually punished.

I think it’s about bloody time they started to think of us too.

Mr. John Brumby needs to come and spend a couple of hours with some of us and I bet he will think a little bit different and will go away licking his wounds. I can guarantee you he will not get my votes at the next election that’s for sure. Money, money, money is all they ever think about.

So I guess we may as well kiss any chance goodbye for holding any events at Werribee in the near future L

I feel for the people who currently have Victorian horses interstate and can sympathise with their need to have their horses returned home as soon as possible, but setting up a quarantine facility at Werribee is just plain CRAZY!!! The said purpose is to house competition horses standed in the green zone in NSW, but clearly this is being set up to allow interstate race horses to gain access to Victorian races. The Victorian Government is not acting in the best interest of the leisure/recreational/performance riders, the money involved with the racing industry is obviously dictating this decision. Why not make the Melbourne Showgrounds the quarantine facility, that way they would be nice and close to the Flemington race course!!!.. And Werribee would be available to Victorians to recommence using, in an attempt to get things moving again for leisure/recreational/performance riders. The DPI has initially booked most of WPEC for 2mths, but surely this will be extended far beyond that time once horses start to move. Wake up Victoria, don't be sitting ducks, write to your parliamentarians, let them know we care and want Victoria to remain EI free. This whole EI thing started from a quarantine facility, what's the chances of the same thing occuring here in Victoria, and bang smack right in the middle of Victoria at that...Well done Mr Brumby,NOT!!!
