WELL ISN'T THE DPI A LAUGHING STOCK "KEEP VICTORIA FREE FROM EI". SO WHY LET 66 HORSES THAT HAVE HAD THE FLU AND BEEN VACINATED OVER THER BORDER OF ALBURY/WODONG? VACINATED HORSES CAN CARRY THE VIRUS STATED ON THE RADIO BY CHIEF VET!!!
THIS WOULD HAVE TO BE THE BIGGEST LOAD OF SHIT THAT THE DPI LETTING THESE HORSES OVER THE BORDER, IT COULD POTENTIALLY POSE A RISK.
OH THATS RIGHT ITS FOR THE POOR YES POOR THOROUGHBRED INDUSTRY TO GET THOSE THINGS TO THE YEARLING SALE IN MELBOURNE. EVERY OTHER HORSE PERSON IN AUSTRALIA HAS HAD EVENTS CANCELLED EVEN WELL INTO 2008 BUT THOSE RACES STILL GO AHEAD AND THOROUGHBREDS CAN GO ANYWHERE.
I HEARD IT CLEARLY THIS MORNING ON THE RADIO THAT VACINATED HORSES CAN STILL CARRY THE VIRUS. SO WHY THE BLOODY HELL ARE THESE HORSES GETTING SPECIAL TREATMENT?????
SURELY THE RACING INDUSTRY CAN STILL HOLD THE SALE BY VIDEO LINK!!!!! HELLO, VIDEO LINK IS USED FOR ALOT OF THINGS. AFTER ALL THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE. THEY WOULD HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO SET THE LINK UP AFTER ALL THEY ARE MUCH RICHER THAN US POOR PLEASURE FOLK.
IT IS AN UTTER DISGRACE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED AND WHY SHOULD IT BE ALLOWED.

Please check your facts Linda. The horses were "recovered" horses from a "resolved" infected premises. None were vaccinated horses.
Well for you annonymous it was stated on the news that horses that had the flu and vancinated horses had been tested were travelling to victoria. Don't you listen to the news.

I do indeed "listen" to the news, but I am tired of the "facts" being misquoted and hyped up. Therefore I only pay attention to the factual information. At the end of the day the movements are available to all who can follow the STRICT quarantine requirements and after looking at the DPI website I see that there are testing regimes required, and quarantine times in both states. Thus in someway facilitating the industry to return to some form of normality. I dont see you being upset about the repatriation horses (performance and pleasure horses as quoted from the media) which are located at another facility.

DO YOU REALISE by keeping this industry going they are keeping 1000's of grooms, strappers and shit kickers employed.
I hate to tell you but i dont see the likes of Caroline wagner, Roy Davis etc Blaming this on the racing industry. What if it had been one of these milliondollar dressage horses coming through quarantine that bought the EI in.
Oh no you'd blame Quarantine then wouldnt you!!!!!!Were the blame should lie. If you can't afford unexpected vet bills get out of the industry.
I have a pleasure horse to, he drove a roofing nail through his foot last week and has cost $700
so far with his atibiotics and penisillian shots. (three shots aday for 5 Days.).
That is the unfortunate side of owning a horse. And i believe that you too need to get your facts straight, the horses moving from state to state are being swabbed and tesed then quarrantined as to make sure even the vaccinated ones cant shed any more virus.
Non vaccinated horses can shed virus for up to 14 days and vaccinated ones will only shed for up to 3 days. Whilst in quarrantine the vaccinated ones are past any shedding stage and are deemed clean before the are let out.
Do you think everyone involved in racing are millionaires, well their not and i'm not one either.
But the news forgot to mention that didnt they!!!!!!!!!!
As you would know anonymous vet bills are unexpected. Who can afford any vet bill tell us that!!!!!!!!! You must be in the money telling people to get out of the industry if they can't afford it. Would you get rid of your kids because of an "unexpected doctor bill". Wake up idiot!!!
I support what Linda has said about the racing industry. They are to blame. Tell us what would you do if your property became infected and had unexpected vet bills because of EI. Who would you blame? What exactly do you do with your horse. So you must be a race horse owner. Figures with the comments you have made!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I totally agree with what you say. If it wasn't for the bloody Thoroughbred industry and it's almighty dollar we wouldn't be in this mess now. And now they are trying to spread it into Victoria. It's not just the horses moving into Vic. but the countless trainers, strappers and handlers who have all been around infected horses. They potentially can also spread the virus after being in contact with contaminated gear etc. I think it is irresponsible, but typical of the racing industry.
To anonymous, you are an idiot. And you have a bad attitude, people should not be described as shit kickers. And I DO hear Heath Ryan complaining...and plenty of others. Maybe noboby asked Ms Wagner for her opinion, because nobody cares.
