Think about it, the race HAS stopped a nation. It's stopped it from having the opportunity to eradicate this disease earlier if at all. If it wasn't for the attitude that the Melbourne Cup must go ahead at all costs, we in the red zones might have been able to get our horses vacinated and the buffer zones could be wider and we might have had a chance!
