Mt Isa board looks forward to new rodeo park

The new board set up to manage the multi-million dollar Buchannan Park in Mount Isa says it is excited by the facility's future.
Rodeo Capital Limited has been set up by the Mount Isa City Council and has now formally taken over the lease of Buchannan Park.

Chairman Phil Barwick says the board will be talking to user groups to ensure community needs will be met.
"It'll bring a range of events here but before this, we haven't been able to hold [events] anywhere in the city or region," he said.
"We're really trying to service not just Mount Isa, but all the north-west and as far as the central-west as we can.
"Hopefully people won't have to travel to Brisbane or Townsville or places like that to see really major events and they'll be able to do it here in Mount Isa."
